The Orem Public Library’s mission is to bring people and information together. Part of doing this is introducing the community to great literature that will last a lifetime. Enter The Big Read. The Big Read is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts to restore reading to heart of American life. Together, The Orem Library and The Big Read hope to introduce Orem residents to great books that can be shared with neighbors and families, start discussions, and lead to new readers around the City!
For 2008, Orem Public Library is presenting Harper Lee’s classic, To Kill a Mockingbird. This Pulitzer Prize winning novel tackles race, class, and American life through the memorable voice of a young girl named Scout. If you haven’t been introduced to Maycomb, Alabama, or if you have, we invite you to take some time out of your busy life and share a great book with us.
